With winter approaching again, we all have to be prepared to make sure we don’t have to deal with any crises or emergencies in the peak of season.
Here is a checklist to make sure we are prepared.
- Check around doors and windows for leakages. If you discover any gaps that can allow the heat to escape, then make sure to seal the doors properly. If needed, replace the windows or doors. It may be little expensive but if you compare it to the increased cost due to heat leakage, it will be a wise decision. No doubts, it will improve the appearance of your house.
- Get you duct cleaning done. It will also help in improving the air circulation.
- Checking insulation of attic especially in older homes is a quite cost-efficient way of cutting the heating costs. Seal holes that you identify that lead down into the house. It will help to cut down the cost of heating.
- Get a routine maintenance and inspection of your heating system each autumn to make sure it is in good working order.
- Clean, replace air filter if needed. These are little tasks that can be done by homeowners.
- Set your thermostat at a comfortable level as it allows you to automatically maintain the desired temperatures and reducing your electricity bill.
- Check if all heating vents are opened and unobstructed
